Andrea Bonezzi won the 2006 Contender World Championships in Fremantle, Australia. This is his sixth world championship title, and he dominated the event from start to finish.

Australians Marcus Hamilton and Matt Hosie finished second and third, with the UK's own bionic man, Simon Mussell, taking fourth.

The home side continued their domination of the top ten results with Tim Hill and Paul Green taking 5th and 6th, and Germany's defending champion, Jan Von der Bank taking 7th.

Brits dominated the teens, hogging 13th to 20th (except for allowing Italian Roberto Lorenzi into 17th), with one of the pre-championship favourites Britain's Tim Holden only managing 13th, let down by relatively poor results in the last two races. He also looks to have been a little unlucky with th double discard scoring, as his final position was well below all bar one of his scoring results.
